Throughout my career I have been fortunate to receive essential guidance and mentorship from business leaders in a wide variety of fields. Early on, one trusted mentor offered me some particularly sage advice. He said, “Remember to say no to the good ideas so you will have time for the great ones.” I have always tried to live by this ideal—and I joined the Ashton Group in part because they share the same philosophy.

UNDERSTANDING

I bring my clients both a business and a personal understanding of the importance of family and estate planning. My father owned one of the largest auto dealerships in the Midwest, and if he had been more aware of specialized tax mitigation and financial options, my family could have avoided many of the financial and personal ramifications that we struggled with during and after his estate transfer.

Today I possess a deep understanding of the complexity involved in estate preservation at this level. I also know that these issues are about much more than money—they involve real families and very intense emotions.
